Markus Wüest was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1962. He grew up here and finished his studies at the University of Basel with a MA in History and German Literature. In 1990 he published his first articles as a free-lancer for the “Basler Zeitung”, the leading local newspaper. He joined the staff of the “Basler Zeitung” in 2007 and was promoted as deputy editor-in-chief as of 2019. Wüest spends part of his life on the Maine Coast, where he owns a house.
